When used in the Broadcast industry, or Video related industries, it has more to do with the meta-data associated with Video than it does with the protection of the Video's book value. Meta-data is data about data, in this case Video. We use this meta-data for a variety of reasons, including, but not limited to identification, description, timing, billing, location and format.
